Meet Carey

A belief, deeply held

I became a psychologist because I believe, deeply and without reservation, that people are capable of healing – and that the right support at the right time can change everything.

That belief did not come from a textbook. It came from years of witnessing what happens when someone finally feels safe enough to be honest about what they are carrying. When the weight begins to lift. When a couple who came in barely speaking to each other finds their way back to one another. When someone who had written themselves off as “just an anxious person” starts to see themselves differently.

That is why I do this work – and it is why I created Clearway Psychology and Wellness, to build a practice rooted not just in clinical expertise, but in genuine human care.

A partnership, not a prescription

Clearway was built on a simple but powerful idea: that therapy should feel like a partnership, not a prescription.

Too often, people come to therapy having already decided they are the problem – that something is broken in them that needs to be fixed. That is not how we see it here. At Clearway, every person who walks through the door or logs on is met with curiosity, compassion, and the firm belief that they already hold the seeds of their own growth. The name Clearway is intentional. A clearway is an open path – one that allows you to move forward. That is what therapy, at its best, creates. Not a perfect life, but a clearer one. One where you understand yourself better, relate to others more meaningfully, and move through challenges with greater confidence and resilience.

Clearway offers individual and couples therapy, in person in St. Albert and virtually across Alberta.

Curiosity, connection, and showing up

Carey brings the same values into her personal life that she brings to her work – curiosity, connection, and a commitment to showing up fully.

When she is not with clients, you will likely find her spending time with family and her dog, getting outside whenever Alberta’s seasons allow, and doing the kind of quiet, reflective things that remind her why rest and relationships matter just as much as productivity. Reading is one of Carey’s great passions and helps support her as a life-long learner.

She believes that the healthiest people are not the ones who have it all figured out – they are the ones who keep showing up for themselves and the people around them, even on the hard days. That belief shapes everything about how she practises.

Three guiding values

Compassion without judgement

Every person who comes to Clearway deserves to feel accepted exactly as they are – not a curated version of themselves, but the full, complicated, real human being. Whose growth is not a straight line but an unpredictable frontier that Carey will traverse with you.

Care that is built around you

There is no template here. Therapy at Clearway is shaped by your story, your goals, and what genuinely matters to you.

A belief in your capacity to grow

Carey does not fix people, she supports them in finding what was already there. Resilience, insight, and the ability to change are not things she gives you – they are things she helps you access.
